Who it's for

For the board you keep.

Most beginner boards get outgrown. The DOHO doesn't, because the shape has more in it than a learner needs on day one.

  1. Catches everything78 liters of volume means easy paddling and early catches, whitewater or green.
  2. Turns better than it shouldShaped rails and a 2+1 Futures setup reward improving feet.
  3. Stays in the rotationSmall days, loaner sessions, travel board. Never the garage.

“Old guy learning how to surf here. Was able to catch 4 waves in nyc's summer season with my very limited ability. Definitely made it fun for me.”

Quick answers

Asked before you have to.

Is this board good for total beginners?

Yes! The 8'0" DOHO is our #1 recommendation for learning. It has plenty of volume (78L) to make paddling easy and is stable enough to help you pop up with confidence.

Do I really not need wax?

Correct. The deck has a custom molded texture that provides excellent grip when wet. Say goodbye to messy wax melting in your car.

How durable is it compared to fiberglass?

Significantly more durable. While no board is indestructible, our high-density foam takes impacts, dings, and tumbles that would shatter a traditional fiberglass board.

Customer photo review of 8'0" DOHO - Formula Fun

So far I am loving it. It’s light and small enough to fit into my VW ID 4 sedan. I have been using it primarily to get fit with paddle strength in preparation for longer surf trip.

I’ve been really happy with my 8' Formula Fun. It feels sturdy and well made, and I like that the foam is at least less environmentally harmful than a lot of traditional surfboard foams. Compared with my Catch Surf, it feels narrower and...

Occasional surfer that’s ridden mostly longboard. Got the 7’10 to help transition to shorter board and transport on plane. Takes some used to getting up vs 9’6 san O, but still floats and paddles well.
